Certificate III in Bricklaying and Blocklaying

CPC33020 — Gain the practical skills and trade knowledge to build a career as a qualified bricklayer and blocklayer.

Overview

The CPC33020 Certificate III in Bricklaying and Blocklaying provides students with the skills and knowledge required to work as a qualified bricklayer and blocklayer in the construction industry. This nationally recognised qualification covers essential competencies including laying bricks and blocks, constructing masonry walls, arches, and structural systems, as well as reading plans and working safely at heights.

Students will develop hands-on expertise in masonry veneer and cavity brick construction, curved and battered walls, decorative brickwork, installation of flashings and damp proof courses, and the use of aerated autoclaved concrete products. The program also covers foundational workplace skills including communication, measurement, levelling, and scaffolding.

The program is delivered face-to-face over 52 weeks, comprising 40 weeks of training and assessment plus 12 weeks of scheduled holidays. The qualification consists of 28 units — 19 core and 9 elective.

Entry Requirements

  • Minimum 18 years of age at the time of enrolment
  • Successful completion of Year 12 or equivalent qualification
  • IELTS overall score of 6.0 with no band less than 5.5 (test taken within the last 2 years); accepted alternatives include TOEFL iBT score of 64, PTE Academic score of 50, Cambridge Advanced (CAE) score of 169, or Oxford Placement Test B2
  • Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital (LLND) assessment to be completed prior to enrolment
